Edwin needs your support more than ever

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

It is with greatest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Alejandra. Our hearts are broken. We were very positive after her successful transplant procedure in December last year, but unfortunately Alejandra started getting a lot of infections, her immune system was very low, and her heart was getting weaker. Alejandra spent some time in ICU, feeling sick, vomiting and being fed by feeding tubes. Last Saturday the Doctors made a decision to put Alejandra into induced coma but unfortunately her heart stopped. Alejandra passed away at 9:30 Saturday night with Edwin, a baby girl, friends and family by her bedside.

Alejandra was a fighter, never gave up, the love she had for her family kept her going but her body was so weak that she couldn't fight anymore.

We are asking you for your support again. All the money we have donated so far has been spent on bills, hospital, and food. Edwin has been home for the last 3 months looking after their baby girl and sick wife. It is going to be very hard for him knowing that his wife is not coming home, their little girl will need to start full time childcare which is going to cost Edwin $130 per day with no subsidy or any help from Centrelink until he receives Permanent Residency which is a long time to go.

Joanna

My name is Joanna and I am fundraising for my good friends Alejandra and Edwin who came to Australia in 2018 from Colombia in search of better life. Their main goals were to find work, become Australian Citizens and one day start a family of their own. Both have been working and working towards becoming citizens whilst on post-graduate visa where they need to meet the criteria to apply for the PR.
In 2022, they found out the exciting news that they were going to become parents and start a family of their own.
Alejandra was fortunate enough to have a normal and healthy pregnancy until towards the end of her third trimester when she found out the most devastating news... that she had leukemia. Earlier this year, in May, Alejandra and Edwin welcomed gorgeous little Mariangel into our world.
Whilst managing the newborn phase and many appointments, they were told that Alejandra needs lifesaving bone marrow transplant in order to survive. She has begun treatment whilst her immediate family are being tested in hope that at least one of them will be a match.
As they are still on post-graduate visa this treatment and surgery is going to cost up to$1,000,000. The amount that the family do not have. Their private insurance BUPA doesn't cover costs related to the cancer treatment.
Whilst Alejandra waits for surgery and further treatment, she had Edwin have had to find the money to fly her mum over from Colombia to help them ease the burden by predominately caring for the baby and Alejandra.
We urgently need your help to get Alejandra the help she needs.
Any money raise will go directly to the family in order to cover the cost of ongoing medical bills and sustain life on one wage.

Lets get this beautiful family the help they need.

Cordialmente, Joanna Komar
