Hello!
We’re writing to you from Marrakech, Morocco where we are currently volunteering. We're working at the Anaroz Association as English teachers to very intelligent children and young adults. These individuals choose to use their free summer time to be in the association everyday, which shows their excitement for education and information.
The founder of this nonprofit organization is a local community member named Laila. Unfortunately, she is given no government funding and has started the organization using her own time and money just to hopefully give underprivileged children in Morocco a chance to develop their own skills.
Although we try to do as much as we can to help, the association is under equipped and needs new supplies, chairs and tables for them to work on and anything else that can make it a little more comfortable and inviting.
Many of the children in this organization are from very low income households compared to other Moroccan families, and their parents can’t afford to send them to school with a proper educational system. This leads to many children not knowing how to even speak French, the country's second language. So much of what the children learn relies on volunteers from other countries, but unfortunately that is not a stable education for the children.
The money donated will also be used to purchase interactive and educative games to help them improve their English, creativity and overall skills in a more guided manner.
This experience has made us understand the privilege we’re presented with by living in first world countries and how we seem to take education for granted when it’s definitely not the case in many places. We hope you feel touched in any way and want to give back to these individuals who aren’t as lucky as most of us.
We will make sure that the money is put to good use and plan on sharing with everyone what we purchase for them.
Thank you for your time and I hope you can help us.
