Help Immigrant UT Students Stay in School

(En español) The repeal of the Texas DREAM Act in early June has left thousands of undocumented students across the state scrambling to raise the funds to pay new tuition rates of more than $40,000 per year, four times higher than it used to be, and with their financial aid packages and special scholarships revoked.

Rooted is working to ease the financial burden faced by our students at UT this rapidly approaching school year. We recently launched a Financial Assistance Program, but student needs far exceed our current funds. But we refuse to let them face this challenge alone.

Fall tuition deposits are due August 15th, and every day until then matters. But our fight doesn’t stop there. Donations after the deadline will help us continue supporting students with future fall semester tuition payments and make sure they can enroll in the Spring 2026 semester too.

Each $5,000 donated helps one more student receive the funds to pay their first tuition installment to UT and stay enrolled in their fall semester classes.

More about our Financial Assistance Program:

We are Rooted, a student organization at UT for immigrant students. We are raising funds for our immigrant students members facing higher tuition rates. We are asking our students members to submit an application to determine need and confirm they are being charged out-of-state tuition. All donations will go to be awarded to our student members that have submitted an application for financial assistance in the form of a check. After, students are instructed to submit documentation confirming the funds distrubuted were used to pay all or a portion of a tuition installement at UT.
