My name is Iman, and I’m a 18-year-old Canadian junior squash player who wants to go professional.
I've been playing squash since I was ten years old, with mostly my dad coaching me at the start. With the help of volunteers along the way, I've been able to achieve some fantastic things in this sport, including:
-Ranking #1 nationally in my current age group (GU19)
-Ranking #1 nationally in all previous age groups (GU13, GU15, GU17)
-Playing for Team Canada at the 2021 Junior Pan-Ams
-Placing 2nd at the Junior Nationals while playing up an age category
-Won the 2022 Canadian Junior Open
-Placing 2nd in the Ontario Senior Open
-Represented Canada in the 2022 and 2023 World Individual Championships
-Played for Team Canada in the 2023 World Championships
However, in order to progress further in the game, I need to be able to compete at international tournaments and have access to higher levels of training. Some of the major tournaments coming up include the following:
-US Junior Open (December 2023)
-Canadian Junior Open (December 2023)
-British Junior Open (Jan 2024)
Attending just one of these tournaments costs at least $5000 due to application fees, flight tickets, accommodation, food, etc. Then, to receive the level of training I need to continue my journey in squash, it costs an additional $1000 per month. All proceeds will be going towards these expenses.
To all of you reading this, your time, consideration, and donations are appreciated. Squash is my passion and quite literally my life. I spend 6 hours training, six times a week - and it's not without my parent's sacrifices that I can do that. They've done the most they can with the resources they have, and now I know that for me to not only play professionally but be #1 in the world, I need your help. Your donation to help fund my dreams is a promise from me that I will represent Canada in the sport of Squash in the best way I can.
Thank you!
Iman Shaheen
