Help give Imad, a brave 5-year-old a fighting chance against aggressive leukemia. My name is Peter Noun, and I am Imad Chehime's Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist. I am reaching out to share Imad's story and his urgent need for financial support in his battle against an aggressive form of acute leukemia. Imad, a sweet and energetic 5-year old boy, was diagnosed with acute leukemia on October 9th 2024. After detailed molecular testing, we discovered a t(4;11) MLL-AF4 translocation in his leukemia cells- a rare genetic marker that makes his leukemia exceptionally aggressive and challenging to treat. Despite the difficult diagnoses, Imad bravely began chemotherapy, which he has tolerated well. His initial bone marrow results on day 15 showed promising morphological response with no detectable leukemia blasts. However, his minimal residual disease (MRD) level was still 0.55%, which, combined with the MLL-AF4 translocation, places him in the "very high risk" (VHR) category. This means Imad requires an intensive VHR treatment plan to have a chance at survival. In Lebanon, The economic crisis has left families without adequate resources. Imad's family is unable to cover the expenses due to the high cost and complexity of care.

Financial Needs:

Year 1: Intensive therapy including induction, consolidation , and reinduction phases will require approximately $65,000. This stage is critical, as Imad will be highly vulnerable to infections and may experience periods of neutropenia requiring extended hospital stays.

Year 2 and 3: Maintenance therapy, which is essential to prevent relapse, will cost about $35,000 per year.

Imad's total treatment costs are estimated at $135,000 over the next three years.
