Hi, My name is Stacey.
I am raising funds for Illawarra Manticore Medieval Combat Inc. Based in Illawarra area NSW, the Illawarra Manticore has a strong passion for Medieval Combat. Established as a visionary team 2025, with open arms, we welcome individuals of all fitness backgrounds to join our supportive community, where we train and compete together. Empowered Buhurt Club infighting for learning, growth. Illawarra Manticore will foster the advancement and refinement of Medieval Armoured Combat within a secure and enjoyable environment, grounded in robust team principal, and family-centric-values. We strive to elevate our physical fitness and technical effectiveness, nature unbreakable bonds amongst our teammates, unleash the thrill of Armoured Combat upon the Illawarra region.
What started as a small group of dedicated fighters training together has grown into a strong, supportive club right here in the Illawarra. We are proud to be creating a safe, empowering space where people of all ages can learn discipline, teamwork, resilience, and confidence through Medieval Combat.
Buhurt is a full-contact combat sport where participants, clad in historically accurate steel armour, engage in battles using blunt steel weapons. The primary objective is to eliminate opponents by forcing them to the ground; a combatant is considered "dead" when a third point of contact—such as a knee, hand, or weapon—touches the ground, in addition to their two feet.
But right now, we need your help.
We are now officially working to expand Illawarra Manticore and create more opportunities within our community.
Illawarra Manticore Medieval Combat Inc. is entering an exciting new stage of growth.
With increasing interest and new members joining our ranks, we are now working to officially expand our club and build a stronger, more sustainable future for Medieval Combat in the Illawarra.
At present, we train at our local public park. While we are proud of our grassroots beginnings, outdoor training comes with major challenges — and the rain is our biggest obstacle. Wet conditions make the ground unsafe, damage equipment, limit attendance, and force cancellations. This impacts consistency, growth, and member retention.
To move forward, we are raising funds to support several key goals:
️ Start a dedicated Female team.
Launching a Women’s Medieval Combat Team. We are passionate about creating greater opportunities for women in full-contact armoured combat. Interest is growing, and we want to properly equip and support a dedicated female team with safe, well-fitted armour and training gear. This ensures equal opportunity, confidence, and strong representation in our sport.
Secure a permanent indoor training space.
A permanent indoor training facility would transform our club. It would provide:
Weather-proof training year-round.
Safe storage for armour and equipment.
Safe environment.
A stable, professional training environment.
A community hub for members and families.
Space to grow our junior and women’s programs.
A clubhouse means stability, safety, and long-term sustainability for our Buhurt Family.
Somewhere to train weekly.
Upgrade our juniors’ public liability insurance so we can safely train more underage members. As kids are future of our sport.
As we expand to include junior members aged 14–17, we must upgrade our public liability insurance to ensure full compliance and protection for young fighters, their families, and the club. This is a necessary and responsible step in growing our youth program.
Purchase team tabards to represent our club with pride.
As we compete and represent the Illawarra region, we want to present a unified and professional appearance. Official team tabards will strengthen identity, pride, and recognition at events and tournaments.
⚔️ Purchase shared club armour for new and developing fighters.
Medieval Combat is a full-contact sport that requires specialised protective equipment. Armour is expensive, and without club-owned gear, it can be difficult for new members to start.
We want to remove those barriers.
Armour is one of the biggest barriers to entry due to cost. By purchasing shared club armour, we can:
Reduce financial pressure on new members.
Make the sport more accessible.
Grow membership safely.
Build competitive team depth.
Illawarra Manticore is more than swords and shields.
We are building:
Confidence in young people.
Strength and resilience in adults.
A supportive community where everyone belongs.
A pathway for women to compete and lead in combat sport.
We want to give juniors the opportunity to train safely and grow in a structured environment.
We want women in our region to have their own team and the chance to compete at higher levels.
We want our club to have a stable home.
Growing our Mens team.
Every dollar raised brings us closer to:
A roof over our heads.
Proper insurance coverage for our juniors.
Safe armour for our fighters.
A stronger future for medieval combat in the Illawarra.
Whether you donate $10 or $500, you are directly supporting grassroots sport, youth development, and a passionate local community club trying to grow.
We are proud of how far we've come — and with your help, we can take Illawarra Manticore to the next level.
Thank you for supporting our dream.
⚔️
Kind regards,
Stacey King-gee
