Help Ijango Zaidia Orphanage Center in Tanzania
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
We are 6 women, who came to Tanzania to work and volunteer in different NGOs and schools: Valérie from Switzerland, Miran from Turkey, Laura from China, Elisabeth from Canada, Ezinne from Nigeria and Kamila from Denmark.
During our stay in Dar es Salaam, we went to visit an orphanage called Ijango Zaidia. The living conditions left us speechless.
The orphanage hosts 100 children and is solely managed and owned by Mama Zaidia. It is not financially supported by any NGOs nor the government. They depend on uncertain daily donations of food, clothes, water, which makes it impossible to have money to cover emergencies. They constantly rely on the generosity of local people. What they get, what they eat.
The previous government was helping them with their rent, but now they don't get any funding anymore.
A hundred children live in a 3 rooms house, without proper beds. There is one toilet, no kitchen. Five to six children share one bed and the ones who can't find a place to sleep have to stay outside, on the concrete floor.
Their health insurance was covered by a local volunteer last year but it is now ending in September 2019.
The conditions of the orphanage are not bearable. All children should have access to food, water, proper clothing and a place to sleep, at least.
After some reflection, we decided to get involved with this orphanage. We know we won't change the world and erase poverty, but we also know that a few dollars make a great difference. Knowing that some people might feel as concerned as we are, we kindly ask you to donate to this cause. With the amount of money we gather, we intend to purchase things they most need.
What we need:
-1-year rent for the house: 3,214 €
-Health Insurance for 1 year for 100 Children: 20€ per child, total 2000€
-Regular expenses for electricity, water, trash: 350-400€ per year
-Furniture (Beds with mattresses, closets, bedsheets, fridge, books, kitchen, utensils, etc.) : min of 1,500€
Thank you for your support and your generosity. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
