Iis, a dear friend to our families who took amazing care of our children while we lived and worked in Indonesia, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer.
The expense for treating the cancer has been significant. We’ve been doing our best to support the medical bills, but we’re now asking for the extended help of our family and friends to lessen the financial burden of the cancer on Iis and her family.
Iis will begin chemotherapy in November. One of the drugs recommended by her doctors (Erbitux/cetuximab) is not covered by her insurance and is estimated to cost approximately $21,300 for a 12-dose course. There will also be additional expenses such as for
- transportation and housing--the hospital is far from her home;
- pain management treatment, which may not be available through her insurance; and
- food and miscellaneous living expenses, since Iis has been out of work since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
If you can contribute, however large or small, we’d be super grateful as every bit of generosity will make a difference in treating the disease and its impacts. Iis is an incredibly kind, humble and generous person who has selflessly supported so many families over the years. We hope to make these coming months less burdensome financially and emotionally as she manages the incredibly difficult physical impact the cancer is causing.
A sincere thank you in advance from all our families.
-Alex, Dakota, Dena, Matt, Natasha, Ron, & Sonja
