Ihab Sakallah, his wife Yasmeen, and their 3 children are trying to escape the Gaza genocide following the destruction of their home. The money raised is the first step to successfully crossing to Egypt. Here is his story in his own words….
Hi everyone. My name is Ihab Sakallah. I am a business administrator living in Gaza, and my wife Yasmeen is an insurance agent. We have 3 children (Wassem, Eman, and Lama) who are all under 10 years old.
My children are my life, but what they have not seen and known is life itself, due to the Israeli aggression against Gaza. It has affected their soul, health, mind, education and life from every direction. I have a beautiful family, my wife and 3 kids. We were living in a warm house, but now our house has been destroyed after Israel's bombing. With it, all of our dreams shattered apart. Our home is in ruins.
We have been displaced more than 6 times since October 7th. At one point we took refuge in a hospital, which you know, if you have been following the news, are also not safe. My children have seen blood, death, destruction and injured people all around them. All of these scenes put them in a state of trauma that they suffer from until now. In addition, my wife suffers from exhaustion with all of these circumstances.
We live in a tent without clean water or healthy food. We do not have enough clothes and tools to survive. When we fled from bombing, we had to leave everything behind us and run. My children are now sleeping on the floor. As a father, my heart is broken. I cannot endure watching my children living in these circumstances. We are barely surviving.
I have no prospect of work in the future, as my workplace has been destroyed also. I desperately need to evacuate my family from Gaza. Any donation will help me to rebuild our shattered life and rise from the ashes of destruction.
The money raised is the first step towards building our new life. The Egyptian border control at Rafah requires $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child to enter Egypt. The additional funds are to cover GoFundMe’s transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction).
