Help Ice Queen Build Out Their Store Front

Backstory:

Ice Queen is a BIPOC woman owned popsicle business in Portland, OR .  It all started back in 2016 when Rebecca Smith began taking entrepreneurial courses around starting the business at Mercy Corps, since then she has managed to go from pop ups to wholesale to storefront.

Ice Queen offers a little more than your standard ice cream or popsicle joint. Being the only entirely plant based popsicle shop in Portland or the rest of the United States for that matter, Rebecca has gone out of her way to establish a connection with her community. When you come into Ice Queen you will more than likely get a interpersonal connection, and a delicious paleta (or a few). Rebecca has managed to grow this business from the ground up and sees Ice Queen not only as her baby but as a community baby (It takes a village, amiright?)

Who We Are:

The quality, love and intention that goes into every popsicle doesn’t go unrecognized. Ice Queen sources many ingredients locally, is working toward being as organic as possible when possible and working toward sustainable packaging. Rebecca has created relationships with many other local crafters/ artists/distributors to support their dreams and plans to continue to uplift those around her through Ice Queen.

An important element of Ice Queen is the vision, we don’t want to be just another beige Ice Cream store, we want to bring the fun back to Ice Cream. Yes, we did just say Ice Cream, while we love our popsicles, we can not wait for the day to get into plant based Ice Cream. Our storefront was always intended to be a full frozen dessert shop but when COVID hit, all of our pop ups, catering, events bailed on us leaving us with a lot less money than we had hoped for. Since then it has been a ride serving popsicles out of our window... our creative juices are running wild y’all! Ready to make the big step of building out the store so we can let the frozen dessert creativity fly!

Where We Are:

Funding is the less than exciting part of all of these conversations, unfortunately we need funding to achieve these dreams. We are asking our community for help. Everything we have will only get us so far in this build. Examples of what this money will be used for are plumbing, electrical, freezers, permits, ice cream case, fridge etc. While we have saved every penny we can we know it will not be enough. We have planned to do this for months and kept putting it off because it never felt like a good time. We are starting to realize there will never be a right time. We know things are tough for everyone and we appreciate any support whether it be financial, a share or a well wish. We are all in this together and we hope through your support you will be able to walk into  a full Ice Queen store by next spring.
