My name is Bara'a El-Mughraby, and I am the sole breadwinner for my family of five in Al-Shati refugee camp in North Gaza. Me, my elderly parents, my sister, and my brother. For months, we have endured the unimaginable, but now our situation has become a matter of life or death. The constant bombardment and the recent evacuation orders from the IDF mean we have to leave our home—but we don't have the capabilities nor the funds to do so. I am reaching out to you with a desperate plea: please help my family survive. My parents, Ahmed and Camilla, are both elderly and require constant care. Their health has been severely compromised by the war. My mother, a lifelong diabetes patient, has seen her health drastically deteriorate due to the famine. The lack of food and medicine has led to a recent tragedy: she developed gangrene and had to have one of her toes amputated. She can no longer walk and needs a wheelchair, which we do not have. My father also suffers from complicated health issues including diabetes, panic attacks, and constant high blood pressure, all of which require a stable environment and proper medical attention, which are luxuries we no longer have access to. We are now trapped in a city under constant threat. With the IDF's recent evacuation orders, the danger is closer than ever. We cannot leave without your help. This is truly a life or death situation. The cost of evacuating our family is prohibitively high, especially with my parents' medical needs. We need to secure the funds for the following: Transportation: The cost to transport our family of five to a safer area in the south is at least $700 USD. With my mother's condition, we will need to secure a vehicle in order to avoid being forced to WALK at least +10 kilometers to the south, which is impossible considering her medical condition. Shelter: Once we arrive in the south, we have nowhere to stay. We will be forced to live in a tent, which, on the black market, costs at least $1,500 USD. This is a necessary expense to provide a place not to protect ourselves, but to shelter us, not to mention other costs to build a small makeshift toilet in order to be able to at least go to the bathroom with dignity. Medical Care & Supplies: Funds for my mother's immediate medical needs, including a wheelchair, proper dressings, and medication to manage her diabetes and prevent further deterioration that could quite possibly cost us her life! Basic Survival: Funds for food, water, and other necessities to survive in a new, unfamiliar location. This campaign is not only dedicated to my immediate family of five but also includes our extended family of around 20 people, the majority of whom are children under 8 years old. All of them, along with their parents, have no source of income. These children are innocent victims in this conflict, and they, too, need the bare essentials for survival. Our combined struggle is even more difficult as we attempt to care for so many in such desperate circumstances. Your help will not only give my immediate family a chance at survival but also provide critical aid to these children and their families, ensuring that they, too, can have food, shelter, and medical care.
