Hi all - my name is Ian and I'm seeking community support for my family and I due to some unfortunate circumstances. This was really hard for me to post as I am the last one to ever ask for help, especially when it comes to finances. I experienced a car theft that's left me with some backed up bills and repair costs. Of course something like this would happen between the holidays, so I have little to go on. Paychecks mostly went to some bills and a few holiday gifts, and then my car went missing over the weekend. Naturally at the worst possible time too, as my car insurance was not updated in time to cover theft damages.
We have attempted to apply for personal loans to consolidate some costs, but have been denied. Community resources are backed up around here, especially with the time of year, so it's unlikely we'd be able to get the support we need right now.
This goal of $4,000 would cover:
- $1,150 owed in backup rent (this is including some late fees and court filing costs; it's been a rough year all around).
- It would also help to cover this coming month's rent of $1708, so we can have a chance to catch up.
- Any remainder would go towards utility costs.
- I have a credit card en route that will be able to cover my mechanic repairs, but it wouldn't be enough to cover the entirety of the situation my family and I are in.
Of course there are many others who are worse off than we are, and plenty who don't have the luck of retrieving stolen property. But any shares, interaction, or assistance is greatly appreciated from the bottom of my heart.
