Hi!
My name is Niloo and I do my best to live a life of service. That has translated in my life in beautiful ways. When there is an animal, insect, plant or another living being in need of help, I take it as a sign from the universe that I need to listen.
So here we are with Ian, a kitty who came into my path in approximately early 2016. To be frank, I'm generally in the flow of life, and can't always remember exact dates of when each of my rescue opportunities happened. So i refer to my phone pictures to go back and find the first images of each rescue.
HISTORY:
Ian and his brother who we named Paul were two neighborhood feral/strays who began coming around to eat. I immediately considered them part of my colony and began to feed and care for them. After a year Paul got hit by a car and passed away. I found him in the morning before I went to work. I was devastated. So was Ian. He disappeared for a couple of weeks, only to return and begin eating on my property again. At that time I had two other community kitties in my outdoor colony named Murray and Choco. These two girls showed Ian that he could trust me. Ian soon surpassed them in his affections for me and my home. He became a full time resident and got his very own heated outdoor cat house so he didn't have to share with Murray and Choco.
After a couple of years I won their trust enough for them to become Indoor/Outdoor kitties. In 2023, five of my rescue kitties, including Murray and Choco passed away due to various reasons... old age, cancer.. and in one horrific case - coyotes. I was empty. Wounded. But this is all a part of rescue. You love them like your own - and eventually you have to let them go through adoption, illness or natural cycles of life and death.
Ian has been so healthy, so loving, such a gentleman.
now we are caught up.
Here is the earliest image of Paul 8/10/16 ... Rest In Peace Paul. We loved you.
CURRENT:
In March Ian came to eat at dinner time with a very bloody right eye. He didn't seem to have any outside injuries. I immediately began giving him antibiotic eye ointment. Made an appointment for him to see if he had been hit by a car or had any internal injuries. None were detected.
Based on researching his symptoms I reached out to several of my contacts at Kitten Rescue LA (an amazing rescue organization I have been volunteering with since 2011). I also reached out to FIP Warriors on facebook and they immediately began counseling me with their wisdom. They are an endless source of support and information.
Monitoring him I made another appointment this time for a full panel blood test and an additional exam.
By this time he had neurological symptoms such as confusion, walking in circles, restlessness, lack of appetite and lethargy.
We started him on a steroid for inflammation and pain meds for comfort while his blood test was being analyzed. These both helped so much.
At this point, I had already spent $500 that i did not have to spend. A life of service is rewarding in all ways except financial.
Based on Ian's blood test results, it is apparent that he is FIP and FIV positive, which used to be a death sentence.
NOW THERE IS A CURE.
it is a lengthy, yet DOABLE course of treatment. I have the time, the love, the patience and the gift of ability from the universe. now all i need is my village to help me make the last limb of this rescue tree possible.
CALL TO ACTION:
Will you help me raise the funds necessary to purchase the necessary supplies and nutrition to give this sweet little boy a chance and a long remainder of his life?
the cost breakdown is as follows:
FIP meds: $24-56 per vial , cost depends on what's available
Other meds: approx. $250
*Steroids to help with inflammation and appetite
*Pain meds for sedation and comfort during injections
*anti nausea and appetite stimulant meds
Blood Test: $350 each x at least 4 during the course of treatment
Food: due to the heavy meds, Ian will need appetite stimulating, high value and nutritional food more than ever. I have put the ones that have been recommended to supplement his treatment on the amazon list and other links.
I am keeping the receipts of all the expenses Ian will incur and will also have an amazon wishlist of items he will need.
(I detest amazon but need supplies asap). click on links to visit the page.
Please message me to ask for other ways to fulfill Ian's shopping needs if you don't want to use Amazon. I have Apple cash, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal and Zelle for direct donations. xo.
This item is only available at the HealthyCatStore and is of high importance: Churu Nourish Vet Formula
also a bundle has been made available of all items Ian needs, here: Essentials Bundle
thank you for helping me help Ian. Together, no one has to suffer or be euthanized needlessly.
If I didn't help Ian with these meds, I would have had to opt for a "financial euthanization". and I just couldn't give up on him so fast. He has a will to live. He love the sunshine, loves to take dirt baths and smell the flowers in the garden. He doesn't kill or fight, and he's a gentleman to all the kitties in my care.
let's fight for Ian.
much love,
your humble servant and guardian -
NiLoO
