Hello everyone,
Will you please take a moment to read this, and consider donating to support Ian Mayes and his family? Ian and his 5-year-old daughter were crossing the street in Spring Valley on December 12, when they were hit by a car. His daughter sustained a fractured arm and leg, Ian sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) along with some other significant injuries. Ian’s injuries/medical interventions include:
• TBI - requiring very strong sedation after they placed a drain in his brain to relieve the swelling
• Medically induced coma and mechanical ventilation
• When the sedation and drain did not adequately relieve the intracranial pressure, Ian underwent a Craniectomy (removal of part of his skull) to relieve the pressure. Once the swelling has resolved, he will require another surgery to place a plate in his skull to replace the bone that has been removed.
• Pneumonia
• Tibial/fibula fracture (with surgical repair to a large laceration where the vehicle hit him)
• Arm fracture
• Tracheostomy
Ian is a kind and loving single father to his 16-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. He has a heart of gold and has always been available to help others (family, friends, and strangers) whenever he could. Ian is a father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many who are all praying for his recovery. If you know Ian, then you know his kind and caring heart, and his love for family and friends. He has never met a stranger, and is a gentle, loving, and giving soul who holds a special place in the heart of all who know him. He matters!
Ian faces an incredibly arduous rehabilitation journey. His apartment has been packed up and everything placed in storage. His son is with Ian’s mom, and his daughter is recovering with her mother. To ensure continued medical coverage, his premium will have to continue to be paid as well as any medical bills that his insurance will not cover. We have set up this fund to support Ian during his extensive recovery and physical rehabilitation from this tragedy.
Please repost and donate what you can to help Ian on his journey to recovery. Please keep Ian and his family in your prayers. Thank you.
