Help Ian Get To Germany Summer 2023

Hello, I’m Ian Ruff Sloan I’m a Junior at Duluth High School.

Growing up I heard a lot about Germany from my family as my dad was stationed in Germany before I was born.

My mom and sister told me stories about their time there. I especially loved the ones my sister told me about being in Germany during elementary school and how much fun she had.

She told me about the castles and the markets that she got to visit while living there and because of those stories I’ve dreamed of going to Germany one day.

I started learning everything I could about Germany during elementary and middle school.

I loved learning about the historical impact that Germany had during both World Wars and how they were able to learn from their mistakes and grow into the country they are today.

But I realized I can only learn so much from books and tv shows. That is why this summer I will be going to study abroad through the Experiment in International Living exchange program.

It has been my dream to study abroad with this program because I will get to learn more about managing international relations as I travel between Frankfurt, Berlin, Brussels, and Luxembourg.

I’ll get to attend school with German students to experience life as a German high schooler and do a treasure hunt in Munich with my group.

I will also meet my host family in Bavaria and share in their daily life during my homestay. I’m very excited to go on this trip and learn about Germany firsthand.

With the support of my family and working a part-time job over the summer, I’ve been able to raise nearly $6000.

But now I need your help! There is still $2200 left that I need to cover the rest of the cost of the program,

That includes the cost of the program airfare to Germany with my group and the airfare to get to the location where the program begins.

This amount will also cover the GoFundMe fees. Any amount you can contribute gets me closer to this goal and if you share this with people you know that can also help me to reach my funding goal.

I think it’s important for me to gain a different perspective on Germany so that as I move into the world as an adult,

I’ll have a more well-rounded understanding of the world outside of the United States so that I can be a better world citizen and with your help, I can achieve that goal.
