Help Ian Gaither For Medical Expenses

Update 05/06/2021: Ian reached out to me today saying that the insurance is coming through. So now instead of $45,000, Ian and his family will need to come up with $15,000. Thank you all for chipping in. God is great!

This is our friend Ian.  We have known Ian for several years now. Our families have become close friends, so close we consider ourselves to be family. In part because we both have adopted internationally. Ian is one of those adoptions. He was adopted to the USA from China. Ian’s life started out difficult as he had cleft palate issues. His adopted family though saw him only as their son. After his adoption he started surgeries to fix his cleft palate. He would have surgeries in Denver, CO and Pittsburgh, PA. Ian would heal from one surgery just in time to be scheduled for the next. Ian was able to see the finish line this past December. He was scheduled for his final surgery. He had to reach full adult size for this final surgery. As Ian was getting ready for the surgery, his family was informed they would have to pay up-front. Not just a co-pay, but for the entire surgery. The insurance has decided this final surgery is not needed. The insurance said this is not a covered benefit, even though they have covered every surgery to this point. The family has pleaded, to no avail. This final surgery, the surgery to bring his cleft palate challenges to a close, is going to cost $200,000, for the doctors, the hospital, and all expenses. The family has negotiated with the doctors and hospital. The cost has been able to be reduced to $45,000. A reduction of $155,000.  This amount is still too much for the family. Ian’s dad has just spent several days in the hospital for a medical condition himself, which has depleted any savings they had. So, we are coming to you, our friends. Help us, help Ian get his final surgery. $45,000 is a lot, but with each of us helping some I believe we can make a young man’s dreams of being done with surgeries a reality. Some of you know Ian as a young kid. Some know him as a Steel City Pathfinder, a scout like troop (Oh, by the way, he was Pathfinder of the Year in Pennsylvania.). Some know him has an active participant in church. Some know him as a worker at Glacier View Ranch. Some know him as a college student now. If you know Ian, you know how full of life he is. Would you consider helping him cross the finish line of the surgeries he has had.
