Help Ian and his fam get through a rough patch!

Hey friends-

Our mutual friend Ian Thomas has had a bit of a turn of bad luck this month - Do you want the story? Well here it is ..

Ian was feeling rough the last couple of months and when some abdominal pains got bad enough to go to emergency they sent him for some CT scans. Frustratingly he never heard back from the clinic even after checking in several times.

When another bout of pains hit him last week it was bad enough to go to emergency again where some kind soul finally referenced and reported on the CT scans and there was a lot of bad stuff going on.

Lesions on liver, adrenal glands and lungs kind of bad stuff.

After the butt cam and biopsy results came back this week he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.

Now I know that sounds bad BUT I've been visiting him this past week and he is in good spirits and seems in good health beyond the pains from biopsy and being doped up on the hydromorphone.

He had to fast for almost 3 days while they do the scoping and testing but was finally given and able to eat some solid foods today! HUZZAH!

I can't stress enough - he looks real good and healthy folks - we've been escaping the hospital for some sunny walks outside.

He's got some coverage from work but I know the fam could use some financial support from the community.

Next steps are he's being discharged from the hospital most likely tomorrow and waiting on being assigned an oncologist and has an initial appointment with BC Cancer May 26th.

As unnerving as a stage 4 diagnosis is we figure that being made to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment with BC Cancer is a better sign than "settle your affairs young man"

He's on a standby waitlist for if an appointment comes up earlier and I truly hope that can happen so we can get ahead of all this.
