I have been friends with Ian Adair my whole life. He is a husband and a father, and I know him to be one of the kindest-hearted men you’ll ever meet. He is a talented boat builder and the owner of Mad Man Marine. He would do anything for a friend and stop to help any stranger.
Ian does so much for this town, including helping with many seasonal marine tasks. In some cases he is waiting to be paid for work completed. As sometimes happens with small businesses, he did not have enough money to keep his insurance and had to let it lapse.
This morning, while with his family, Ian’s worst nightmare at work came true. His boat building shop, his life’s work, up in flames and gone in a moment. It hurts me deeply to know how much he lost today, some of which can never be replaced. The shop he built with his own hands, all of his tools, machinery, and equipment, an aluminum boat he was building – his whole livelihood – gone.
The loss seems catastrophic, but I am confident that Ian will come back from this. He is a proud man and never asks others for help, so I am asking for your help on his behalf in the rebuilding of his boat shop and the replacement of his tools. Let’s join together and help him get back on his feet and provide for his family.
Ian's estimated loss is in excess of $500,000. Our goal is to raise at least $100,000. If you are local, you can donate directly to the Adair Family or to their direct Venmo account: Julia-Adair-4
If you can’t give, please share this to your social media and get this to as many people as we can.
Thank you,
Niall Conlan
