Help the Hyde Heroes Go to VEX Worlds!
We still can’t quite believe we’re writing this…
Our Hyde Heroes from Hyde Elementary are heading to the VEX Robotics World Championship — again!
What makes this year even more special?
We started our season late.
While other teams had months of preparation, our students jumped in knowing they would have to work twice as hard just to catch up. There were long practices. Redesign after redesign. Failures. Fixes. Encouragement. Teamwork.
And they never gave up.
At the Texas Region 3 VEX IQ Elementary Championship, these five incredible students earned the highest award of the tournament — the Excellence Award.
That award means they didn’t just build a strong robot.
It means they demonstrated:
• Teamwork
• Engineering excellence
• Strong communication skills
• Problem-solving under pressure
• Outstanding character
Now they have earned the opportunity to compete against the best elementary robotics teams from around the world in St. Louis, April 27–May 1.
This is an incredible experience for these students.
Why This Matters
These are elementary students.
They are learning to:
- Design and program robots
- Speak confidently in interviews
- Solve complex problems
- Lead and collaborate
- Persevere when things don’t work
They are discovering that their ideas matter.
They are seeing that hard work pays off.
They are realizing they can compete on a WORLD stage.
What We’re Raising Funds For
Traveling to Worlds requires flying from Houston to St. Louis and staying four nights for competition.
Our total estimated cost is $18,000, which includes:
Phase 1: Registration fee
• $1,854 that will be paid to VEX (due 3/31)
Phase 2: Coaches Travel
- $1200 for flights and hotel
Phase 3: Student Travel
• Flights for 5 students, 5 parents
• Hotel stay during competition
Phase 4: The extras
• Meals during long competition days
• Team shirts and pit decorations
• Competition supplies
Our first priority is covering the registration fee to officially secure our spot, second to cover the coach's travel expenses, and third to cover the student expenses.
