Help Hurricane Helene Victims Stay Warm in Western NC
Donation protected
I live in Swannanoa, NC. I am a Hurricane Helene victim, and I'm trying to support a fantastic nonprofit group, Aerial Recovery, whose boots are on the ground in Western North Carolina. My husband and I have been traumatized, displaced, leading a nomadic life now since September 27, and everything we used to know is now upside down. Our sweet town of Swannanoa and all of beautiful Western North Carolina have been devastated. But I am one of the lucky ones. We have come together as a community of incredibly diverse neighbors to rely on each other emotionally and to help in many ways. We have been introduced to the most amazingly unselfish and hardworking volunteers who have helped us in countless ways. We have learned of some of the greatest needs of those less fortunate than we are, and we are working hard to chip away at those needs in any way we can. One of the organizations who has helped us personally and as a neighborhood and community is Aerial Recovery, an incredible nonprofit comprised of selfless individuals who have devoted their lives to helping those who have been impacted by natural and man-made disasters. A team of these amazing volunteers helped me personally and our mountaintop community. As a tiny way of thanking them, I have asked them how we can now help them, what is the greatest need they're seeing right now.
It's getting cold in the mountains, and they have told me that they most need small indoor propane heaters and the propane to fuel them. These are for people they're confronted with every day, whose access to their properties and their homes have been devastated. These are NOT used to heat their entire homes. These folks are taking cold showers and their babies and children are taking cold baths. They are then stepping into cold homes. So these heaters are used to give them just a pop of warm air after their freezing cold showers and baths.
Our goal is to buy Aerial Recovery as many of these heaters and small propane tanks as we can possibly raise funds for. Please consider helping in any way you can!!
