Hurley is our Mini Golden Retriever (Muppet), born on a farm in Emmett, Idaho in November 2018. From the very beginning, he’s been a loving, playful companion—my son’s best friend and my constant shadow. When Hurley was just a puppy, one of his littermates accidentally poked his eye with a stick, leaving him mostly blind in that eye. Despite this, Hurley has always been full of life and joy, bringing so much happiness to our family for the past eight years.

Recently, Hurley was diagnosed with end stage Glaucoma in his blind eye. The medication can no longer keep him pain-free, and the eye doctor explained that he’s living with what’s essentially a constant migraine. It breaks my heart to know he’s feeling this way, even though he tries so hard to stay active and cheerful. The only way to relieve his pain is to have his blind eye removed by a specialist, but the costs before and after surgery are very high. As a single parent on a set budget, I’m now facing these expenses alone.

Hurley is truly a part of our family—he’s been there for every adventure, every milestone, and every quiet moment at home. His recovery will require extra care, and I may need to miss work to help him adjust to life with one eye. It’s not easy for me to ask for help, but Hurley means the world to us.
