Hello, my name is Kerry Crouse. My son, Hunter Crouse, became ill in October with the flu, which took him out for a week. The flu later became double pneumonia so bad that he was hospitalized for 5 days and spent 3 of those days in ICU. He was then sent home with meds to take. A week later, the symptoms were still there, almost worse. I brought him back to the same hospital, and we were then told he still had the bilateral pneumonia, which we were told was completely gone when he had left prior. The second stay, he was there for another four days. Then Hunter was told he was okay to go home yet again. We were hopeful, but unfortunately, the symptoms (constant cough, throwing up, shortness of breath, dizziness) continued to become worse. At this point, we're now into the middle of December, and he'd lost 30 lbs in a month and was weak and pale. By December 20th, his condition had worsened, so I decided to take him to a better hospital in a nearby city (Summerville Medical Center). This hospital has been amazing. Soon after arriving, he was automatically admitted yet again, with very low oxygen levels as in the prior hospital. His X-rays showed he still had the bilateral pneumonia, but it was low in his lungs. He is seeing many doctors (Infectious Disease Specialists, Lung Doctors, many, many people are trying to figure out why he is not getting better). He has had many antibiotics, steroids, breathing treatments, etc., to no avail so far. Hunter has always been very healthy, a non-smoker, non-drinker, no drugs, nothing. We are asking for any help our friends and family can give to help with his loss of wages (he's been out of FedEx for a month now) and help with medical bills, which are going to be insanely high due to having no insurance, since he never really got sick ever, other than a typical cold. He has had to spend Thanksgiving and now Christmas in the hospital. It has been rough on us all, and we are far from our family. It's just myself, Hunter, and his dad here in SC. Anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated. Bless you and Happy Holidays ❤️.
