Memorial Fund for Hunter Herring

Hi friends! On 12/20, my 28 year old cousin Hunter tested positive for covid. On Christmas eve, things took a bad turn and hunters' mom melinda had to call an ambulance because he was having trouble breathing. He was admitted to Baptist Desoto hospital on Christmas eve. He was pretty stable on Christmas day and then things turned for the worse on the 26th. He was moved to ICU on the 27th where he was sedated and placed on a ventilator.

 

If you dont know Hunter, he is a beloved teacher in Desoto County. He is the SPED History teacher at Southaven High School. He just recently finished his Master's degree in education in hopes of furthering his career in education. He is a dedicated teacher and I love reading the funny stories he posts about his students on Facebook!! He also just recently purchased a home in Southaven. This fund will help support Hunter and pay his bills as he will be out of work for the foreseeable future. We have no idea how much insurance will cover or if he will be able to file for disability......all those bridges will be crossed as he recovers and gets out of the hospital. This is for his immediate needs. if you are unable to donate, we covet your prayers for his recovery.

As of yesterday, he had been making small improvements. He weaned from 20 down to 14 on the ventilator. He has to wean to a level of 5 to be able to come off sedation and attempt to come off the ventilator. He has had high potassium levels as well as bouts of low blood pressure. Both have been treated with meds. His blood sugar has also been high and troublesome to keep under control.  As of this morning, we have learned that his kidneys are not functioning properly, and he will have to start dialysis. Please pray that he continues to make improvements.....His mother Melinda and I will continue to update on his condition.
