Amanda, my sister-in-law, recently had to take an emergency trip to Texas after her mother, lovingly known by her granddaughter as “Huney,” was hospitalized with a serious abdominal aneurysm. The situation was sudden, life-threatening, and incredibly overwhelming for everyone involved.

Since then, “Huney” has had to take a full week off from work. Before this, she had been working 35 hours a week. But due to ongoing medical needs, frequent travel, and specialist appointments, she’s now only able to manage around 20 hours a week — roughly 5 hours a day, 4 days a week.

Huney’s care needs are extensive and long-term. She will require regular visits with a cardiologist for heart health and a vascular surgeon to monitor her aneurysms. The most qualified and available care is through the Memorial Hermann system, which unfortunately means longer travel distances and more time off work.

On top of that, the family is in the process of trying to switch Huney’s health insurance in order to get her into the right care network. This transition is expected to increase her monthly premiums, adding even more financial pressure — but it's necessary to ensure she gets the care she needs. Her current cardiologist has been unresponsive since her hospital release, so the urgency to transfer her care is very real.

We are asking for your prayers — for strength, healing, and clarity during this difficult road ahead. And if you feel moved to help financially, any contribution will go directly toward Huney’s medical costs, increased insurance premiums, and lost income so she can focus on recovery, not finances.
