Final Update:

Hun was finally discharged on Sunday and is now back home with his kids, who missed him dearly. While this is a huge step forward, he still has a long road to recovery ahead, with an estimated 3–4 months of healing. We’re hopeful that being home, surrounded by comfort and family, will help speed up the process.

He also wants to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming love, prayers, support, and generosity from friends, family, and even strangers. Every message, donation, and kind gesture truly helped him get through some very difficult moments.

This will be our final update, but we will be keeping the GoFundMe open a little while longer as the financial burden continues to grow.

Thank you again to everyone who has donated, reached out, and kept him in your thoughts. Please stay safe out there.

----------------------------

Hun Chin is a dedicated small business owner and the face behind Park Ave Grocery in Tacoma. For years, he has worked hard every day to serve his community and support those around him.

On April 23rd, 2026, Hun’s life changed in an instant. While working at his store, he was the victim of a shooting that left him with serious injuries. He is currently in the ICU receiving critical care.

Hun is not only a business owner — he is also a husband and a father to three boys and a young daughter. His family depends on him, and this tragic event has placed an overwhelming emotional and financial burden on them.

This incident has not only impacted his health but also his ability to work and provide for his family. As a small business owner, time away from work means no income, while medical expenses continue to grow.

Hun is known by many in the community as a kind, hardworking, and reliable person. He has built strong relationships with his customers over the years, and now he needs our support more than ever.

We are raising funds to help cover:

• ICU and hospital medical expenses

• Surgeries and ongoing treatment

• Recovery and rehabilitation

• Lost income during his healing process

• Support for his family and daily living expenses

This incident has also been reported by local news, highlighting the seriousness of what happened and the impact on our Tacoma community.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Hun recover and support his family during this incredibly difficult time. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help reach others.

Thank you for standing with Hun Chin and his family.

Update 1: He is awake! Still heavily medicated, but alert and stable. He cannot speak yet due to having a tube down his throat but he is constantly writing to communicate with us. His hand writing went from scribbles to full paragraphs. Hun just loves to talk and he cannot wait to get his tubes removed. Before we left for the day, he was still in alot of pain but he got some meds to ease the pain to rest for the night. I would like to thank everyone that donated and reaching out to to see how he is doing and offering support. We are all so lucky and blessed to have such great people supporting us through this hard time. It just show what kind of person Hun is to be so loved by everyone. Thank you again and will keep everyone posted with hopefully more positive updates. ❤️

Update 2: Hun had a rough start this morning. Tube was removed but was followed by extreme pain. He was scheduled for a surgery later on in the afternoon to remove the bullet that was still inside of him (most likely the culprit of his pain). After about 4 hours, he was finally back with us. Soon after the anesthesia wore off, he was talking to us normally for the first time. He is talking, eating and drinking now and really wants a burger! We will get him a burger tomorrow. I belive the worst has past and hoping for a speedy recovery. We also had an overwhelming number of support at the store. Every customer asked about Hun and asked if he was okay and many extended their help. Our whole family is very grateful and cannot express how thankful and lucky we are. Thank you all very much. ❤️

Update 3: Things are looking up. Hun is finally out of the ICU and has started rehab. He’s been told that the more effort he puts into rehab, the faster his recovery will be. Although he’s still in a lot of pain, he’s pushing through and staying as active as he can, determined to get back to his family. The constant love and support he’s receiving is undoubtedly helping keep him motivated and moving forward.

Update 4: He had to undergo a couple more surgeries, and shortly afterward experienced complications related to the blood transfusion. At one point, his temperature spiked to 107°F, and he was drifting in and out of consciousness. He was also heavily medicated, which affected his mental clarity. The good news is that he’s doing much better today and is no longer connected to most of the tubes—only the one in his lung remains. Doctors will continue to monitor him over the next few days, and if his recovery stays on track, he may be discharged within a week or so.
