Help Humboldt Roller Derby Travel Across California & Oregon

Humboldt Roller Derby will be getting back on the road this year! Your donations will help our team travel to three different away games this season.

After coming back from COVID and rebuilding our skater-run league for the past 3 years, we are finally in a place to compete in games and tournaments away from the North Coast. But we need some help from our faithful fans! As you know, travelling out of Humboldt isn’t easy and it isn’t cheap. We not only need to help support our skaters by covering the costs of hotel rooms, but we also have some tournament fees to pay. We are hoping the Humboldt community can help us raise $5,650 so both the Redwood Rollers and Root Force can travel out of the area and play other teams across California, Oregon, and Washington!

Here’s what your funds will be supporting:

Our first away game of the season is coming up quick! On April 26th HRD’s B team, Root Force, will be playing against long time opponents and pals, Shasta Roller Derby. We will need $600 total for 4 hotel rooms for one night for 16 skaters/bench coaches.

Our first tournament of the year, Cascadian Clash, is happening in The Dalles, Oregon (an 8.5 hour drive!) on May 10th and 11th. HRD’s A team, the Redwood Rollers, will be skating in 2-3 games for WFTDA rankings during this 2-day tournament. The tournament fee is $300 and we will need $1,500 total for 5 hotel rooms for two nights for 20 skaters/bench coaches.

Our final tournament of the year will be the Golden Bowl, hosted by Bay Area Derby, on September 12-14. This 3-day tournament will see the Redwood Rollers facing off against some high ranking opponents from California and Washington, all for a chance to move up in WFTDA rankings. This tournament fee is a little pricey, at $50 per skater/bench coach. That’s $1,000 for our 20 skaters/bench coaches! We will also need $2,250 total for 5 hotel rooms for three nights for 20 skaters/bench coaches.

We are so grateful for the support of our community and we love being able to play 6 home games a year for ya’ll to enjoy! Playing in tournaments and away games helps us become a stronger team and improve our rankings so we get even more opportunities to play this sport we love so much. Every little bit helps, so please feel free to share with friends and family who may be able to support HRD. If we don’t end up making it to our goal, we will split up the donated funds equally to cover the costs of each game as much as we can.
