Dearest friends,

Our son's name is Hugo Pomar, he is one of our 17-year-old triplets. He suffers from Neurofibromatosis (NF1), which is a genetic disorder that can cause painful tumors, cancer and scoliosis.

Hugo has a very severe case of Neurofibromatosis and has been receiving increasingly intensive medical treatment, surgeries, and rehabilitation since he was just 2 years old. He has been bedridden for 4 months now and has lost mobility in his left arm due to a very large, inoperable, cancerous tumor, almost the size of his trunk. His severe scoliosis, along with a tumor that has greatly affected his left lung, has caused him respiratory restriction, which is why he has been oxygen-dependent for years. For this reason, we have needed to resort to specialized hospitals, where Hugo has undergone several surgeries, including one in 2012 to correct or manage his scoliosis, in which instrumentation was introduced into his spine. Unfortunately, due to the progression of scoliosis, the instrumentation in the spine caused a back injury, protruding out of the skin and causing an open wound, so on September 27th, 2022, Hugo underwent emergency surgery to remove the material.

Since then, Hugo has not been able to recover due to his critical respiratory condition, and his health has heavily declined.

Consequently, a CT scan showed that one of his neurofibromas had turned cancerous, so our son's current condition is critical and the oncologists consulted by the hospital agreed that chemotherapy radiation could be fatal for him at this time.

He is currently receiving end-of-life care as an inpatient for an undetermined period of time, therefore Hugo needs the love, companionship, and support of our family.

It is precisely due to the unexpected and prolonged hospital stay that we now turn to you for help. Your contributions would alleviate the financial burden as a result of the expenses incurred.

Despite the tragic situation our family is going through, Hugo is a cheerful, positive young man who is ready to encourage others with loving words, jokes and stories. He is a spunky boy with a laugh that radiates wherever he goes, his joy stemming from his hope for the future.

Hugo looks forward to the future fulfillment of God's promise of an earthly paradise. At that time he will be free from his painful condition, and he will enjoy perfect health forever with his friends and family.

These promises are sustaining Hugo during this really difficult time.

Our family is very grateful for all the care and attention that Hugo is receiving from the hospital's medical and administrative staff. For many years they have contributed their knowledge and affection in giving the best possible care to our son. We thank you deeply.

POR HUGO, NUESTRO AMADO HIJO Y HERMANO

Estimados amigos de noble corazón,

El nombre de nuestro hijo es Hugo Pomar, el es uno de nuestros trillizos de 17 años.

Hugo ha recibido tratamiento y atención médica, cirugías y rehabilitación desde sus dos años de edad, ya que el tiene un caso severo y poco común de neurofibromatosis tipo 1. La neurofibromatosis tipo 1 (NF1) es un trastorno genético que causa tumores muy dolorosos, cancer y escoliosis.

Hugo ha estado postrado en cama los últimos 4 meses, y ha perdido totalmente el movimiento de su brazo izquierdo debido a un tumor muy grande que es canceroso e inoperable. Otro tumor y su escoliosis progresiva le han ocasionado restricción respiratoria, por lo que desde entonces es oxígeno dependiente. Por ese motivo hemos necesitado recurrir a hospitales especializados, por lo que Hugo ha sido sometido a varias intervenciones quirúrgicas, entre ellas una el 2012 con el propósito de corregir o manejar su escoliosis progresiva en la cual se introdujo instrumentación en su columna.

Consecuentemente, por el avance de la escoliosis la instrumentación en la columna le causó una herida abierta en la espalda, por lo que el 27 de Septiembre del 2022, Hugo se sometió a una cirugía de emergencia para remover el material.

Desde entonces, Hugo no ha podido recuperarse debido a su estado crítico respiratorio.

Desafortunadamente una tomografía mostro que uno de sus neurofribromas se volvió canceroso por lo que el estado actual de nuestro hijo es crítico y los oncólogos consultados por el hospital coincidieron en que la radiación quimioterapia podría ser fatal para él en este momento.

Actualmente está recibiendo cuidados paliativos como paciente internado por un período indeterminado de tiempo, por lo que Hugo necesita el amor, la compañía y el apoyo de nuestra familia.

Es justamente debido a la estadía prolongada e inesperada, que ahora acudimos a ustedes por ayuda. Sus contribuciones aliviarían la carga financiera como resultado de los gastos que esta representa.

A pesar de la trágica situación que nuestra familia está pasando, Hugo es un joven alegre, positivo y listo para animar a otros con palabras cariñosas, chistes y cuentos. El es un muchacho emprendedor con una sonrisa que irradia donde llega, su alegría proviene de su esperanza para el futuro.

Hugo espera con anhelo el futuro cumplimiento de las promesas de la Biblia sobre una tierra hecha un paraíso. En ese entonces el estará libre de su dolorosa condición, disfrutará de perfecta salud para siempre junto a sus amigos y familia.

Estas promesas lo están sosteniendo durante este tiempo realmente difícil.

Nuestra familia está muy agradecida con todo el cuidado y la atención que Hugo está recibiendo del personal médico y administrativo del hospital. Por muchos años ellos han aportado su conocimiento y cariño al dar el mejor cuidado posible a nuestro hijo. Les agradecemos profundamente.
