We, Hugo's family (Diane, Odessa, and Celeste), are raising funds to help pay someone to visit Hugo and provide him with some regular social time.

As most close friends and family know, Hugo was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in February, 2021. In the last two years, his dementia has progressed to the point where it is very challenging for him to interact in public on his own. He is not able to communicate his needs and is not aware of his disorder. However, he remains a sociable person as he has always been and we know that being with others is one of the few things that still provides meaning in his life.

His care is a significant drain on his close family. All of us still work to support ourselves.

We are therefore hoping to hire someone who can pay regular visits to Hugo and take him out for some social enrichment in a way that we know will be safe for him and the community, both while he's still living semi-independently and hopefully beyond when he moves into long-term care.
