Help Hugo Heal!
Hello, my name is Noel Ribota from Fort Worth, Texas. I am helping raise money for my cousin's 10 year old boy. He was born with a skull / facial bone degeneration. When he was a little boy, they were told that his skull and facial structure would shape together as he grew. Unfortunately, this is not what has taken place. The right side of skull has experienced degeneration and has therefore impaired proper development of his skull and facial bones. This deformity has caused several complications. His jaw is not aligned properly and also sags to the right which has inhibited his ability to eat. His right orbital bone has caused his right eye to not be on the same visual plane as his left eye. His right nostril has essentially closed up as the bone structure that aligns the nasal passageways is drooping. His forehead plate while normal on the left side, is sagging on his right, and pushing down on his brain. As seen in the photo, he has to wear an aluminum wire brace 24/7 to prevent further sagging and deformity.
After seeking help from various medical facilities in Mexico, each visit ended with a lack of assistance. However, after an arduous search for help, they have been blessed with the good fortune to receive medical assistance from Shriner's Hospital. Fortunately, there is a scheduled surgery! The procedure will involve reconstructive surgery of his facial bone plates, which is scheduled for September 13, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. The family has been advised that they are to be LA 10 days for pre-op and 10 days for post-op appointments. This amounts to a stay in the U.S. for 21 days.
I am helping my cousin to assist them with this continued journey to recovery as they would love nothing more than to have their son be happy and healthy. They reside in a small mountain village in Chihuahua, Mexico. While they have been fortunate enough to find help by way of Shriner's Hospital, they are responsible for making their way to the United States. The funds we are raising will be to assist with the medical visas for entry to the U.S., transportation, lodging and meals. Another reason I wish to help is due to the culture and language barrier. Imagine being from a town of around 200 people, and you are told that help is available, but in Los Angeles, the land of millions of habitants. The process of entering the U.S. is already a challenge, but then being in the 2nd largest metropolitan area in the country is very daunting. Especially when you do not speak English and are not familiar with this type of an urban setting.
We greatly appreciate your time and assistance.
