Hugo is a 5-year-old French bulldog that I rescued from a woman who no longer wanted him. When I first met Hugo, he was in rough shape—he had an ear infection, was underweight, dehydrated, smelled of urine, and didn’t even know how to walk on a leash. I cleaned him up, got him healthier, and eventually found a wonderful woman in South Beach to adopt him. She got him into great health, but through no fault of her own, the adoption didn’t work out. I picked Hugo up in December and have had him for a month now.
Recently, I woke up to find Hugo limping and unable to walk on his left back leg. I believe he injured himself rushing to bark at noises in my apartment hallway. I took him to Arbor Pet Hospital in Wilton Manors, where he received an extensive examination and x-rays. After the visit, the vet told me that Hugo needs a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery, along with pre-op bloodwork and antibiotics. As a PR consultant facing a tough year, I simply can’t afford this surgery on my own while keeping up with my own bills and apartment.
Hugo is currently on medication and strict bed rest, but surgery is the only way for him to heal and be pain-free. I would be incredibly grateful and thankful to anyone who can donate, share, or even like this GoFundMe campaign. Any support for Hugo’s much-needed surgery would mean the world to us. If I am able to raise these funds, I will gladly provide receipts and updates from the vet so you know exactly how your generosity is helping Hugo.
