Help Hugh with Medical Expenses

Hello everyone, my name is Courtney Whitaker. My brother Hugh was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease this past year. Crohn's disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and unfortunately as of now there is no cure. Before this, he was dealing with IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome) for the past three years and still working full time as a manager of a local restaurant.

As many of you know, Hugh has such an engaging and heart-warming personality. His love for work and the community is overwhelming.

Since February, Hugh has not been able to work and has been very weak. His first surgery was in February to fix a fistula and remove a piece of his infected colon, they removed an abscess and applied a temporary colostomy bag. After this surgery, the surgical wound became infected, and the wound turned chronic causing it to not heal for 10 months. Shortly after, the abscess returned, and he had to have multiple drains placed to prevent infections from forming again. Hugh also had a skin graph to help heal the open wound, which turned into a failed plastic surgery attempt because his body was too weak to have it heal correctly. From this, his weight dropped drastically and now he is back in hospital for the same surgery again to remove more of the colon and another abscess.

We are so blessed to have caught this when we did. Hugh is still fighting this disease and is still maintaining a positive attitude. He is continuously caring for others, so this is our time to care for him!

These funds will go towards hospital bills, house bills, and other life expenses, as he continues to fight to get back to work.
