Help Save Huck

Donation protected
Hi everyone, on May 21st Huck became paralyzed from a new drug called Librela the vet said was “completely safe”. He was limping after hikes and couldn’t do steep stairs (naturally as they get older). The vet took X-rays and said he needed this new miracle Librela shot and it would make him happier and comfortable. After the injection (within 24hrs) Huck lost all mobility in his hind legs, incontinent, pneumonia, now sudden pancreatitis (Lipase levels went from 250 to off the charts 1,130!), he’s disoriented at times, he refuses to eat and lost 25lbs since May 20th, he’s extremely lethargic, has a slight head tilt when he walks which indicates neurological symptoms, coughed up blood and bile a few days ago…it’s been a really scary, bizarre, heartbreaking couple weeks. He’s needed 24/7 care just to monitor and keep him stable…I’m exhausted.

PSA- This drug was only recently approved and put on the market last May 2023. Their clinical trials where extremely limited and apparently marketing for this product was under FDA review last November for falsifying claims and not disclosing serious adverse side effects. Since May 2023 there have been THOUSANDS of documented cases of what Huck is going thru with almost all cases resulting in euthanasia bec this drug did so much damage.

This drug is a Nerve Growth Blocker! Essentially Librella surpresses the Nerve Growth Factor which exists in every peripheral tissue and organ supplied by sensory or sympathetic efferent fibers, including immune cells. So, if there are any underlying issues systemically, it will not only accelerate this process within days, weeks or a few months but also surpress ALL nerves in the body in some degree. It’s insidious.

I came to this vet with a health concern that could have been fungal related (all tests came back negative) and typical age related arthritic and ACL wear, now he is deteriorating from a drug that is taking his entire nervous system down.

Anyway, I still have hope and I’ve found an amazing holistic vet who is aware of what this drug does. He was able to get Huck on an immediate treatment plan yesterday that could possibly save his life. I am not giving up on Huck yet (as long as he’s not suffering). I have spent $13k between all the vets, Access ER and meds since May 20th (these medical bills are INSANE!). I am at a point i just need to ask for help.

If you are able to donate even $5 that would mean the world. His treatment today was $1,497.00 and the follow-ups twice a week from this point forward will be around $550-1000 per week. This includes Fecal transplant, acupuncture, IVs, B12 injections, etc. The projected total is around $4,500 including all the food and IVs I’ll need to bring home, etc.

I know some might say “he’s just a dog, let him go”. He’s my world - a rescue I couldn’t walk away from back in 2015 who became my loyal little soulmate and shadow. I’ll never give up on him until he lets me know - he hasn’t yet.

If this doesn’t work at least I’ll know i did everything i could to save him.

Thank you in advance for your donation❤️ And of course your love and support.

Love - Kristin and Huck
