***UPDATE (7/26)***

As of today we have now gone to our fourth emergency visit due to the severity of his pain. We went in under the impression that euthanasia was the most humane thing we could do for him, as the mri and surgery were not a guarantee that his leg would be pain free and financial constraints. Thankfully the vet advocated amputation although we were hesitant at first, we decided that was the better course of action. We had concerns over quality of life as a three legged dog but the vet assured us with testimonials and videos that he could get back to his best life. As of now he is under care at Freeport Veterinary Medical Center receiving stronger pain medication and awaiting potential surgery on Monday. I’m entirely grateful to every one who’s donated and shared his story, it truly is making all the difference.

On July 11th, a tragic accident occurred. Huck, our GSP, broke through the glass on one of our windows, severing his artery, soft tissues, and tendons. Since the injury, we have exhausted all of our resources getting him care. However, none of these resources have been able to address the root cause of his current pain. We have gone to four different vets, ranging from emergency, outpatient, to now specialties. Huck is requiring further testing, including X-rays, CT scans, and surgeries to address the 7cm laceration to his left forearm. The surgery that he has already undergone was able to stop the hemorrhage; however, it was not able to correct the tendon laceration. As of today, July 24th, his pain has become more and more severe, that his prescribed medications are not touching. He is currently staying with the specialist and will have a surgery consult tomorrow to further evaluate his plan of care. I wouldn’t do this if we weren’t desperate to get him the care and rehabilitation he needs to live a healthy, fulfilling life. Thank you so much for taking the time to read or even donate.
