My sweet son Howie is currently in the hospital on day seven of a very serious illness. He contracted the HMPV virus, which has now led to bacterial pneumonia and a bacterial trach infection. Because of how sick he is, he is requiring more respiratory support than I can safely provide at home.
Right now, Howie is sedated so his little body can rest and heal. Watching your child struggle to breathe is something no parent should ever have to experience. The doctors are giving him the support he needs, but this has been one of the hardest weeks of my life.
As a single mom, I am doing everything I can to be by his side. The hospital is 120 miles round-trip from our home, and I am traveling back and forth daily to see him. Between gas, meals on the road, household bills, and missed work, the financial strain is becoming overwhelming.
Unfortunately, I do not have PTO or paid leave, and I do not receive income while Howie is hospitalized. Every day I am at the hospital with him is a day without pay — but there is nowhere else I would be.
I am humbly asking for help to cover:
• Gas and travel expenses
• Meals while at the hospital
• Household bills while I am unable to work
• Ongoing care needs during his hospitalization
If you are able to donate, share, or simply pray for Howie, we are deeply grateful. Your support allows me to focus on what matters most — being present for my son while he fights to heal.
Thank you for standing with me during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Emy
