Thank you for taking a moment to read our post. We come to you with great humility in search of help for our family and their neighbors who have lost their homes and all of their possessions in a recent fire in La Misión, Mexico. Wildfires broke out and were quickly carried by the Santa Ana winds. Many people came together to try to stop the fires. Unfortunately, many homes were completely devastated by the fires, including my Mother and Father in-law’s home and their neighbor’s home as well. Our family and their neighbor are prideful individuals who rarely ask for help, they prefer to give back themselves. They are dealing with the shock of the loss of all of their possessions and homes, thus we have stepped up to make a plea for help. We hope you will understand the magnitude of the situation and consider giving to our effort to rebuild.

The Cardozo family has lived on the hill in La Misión for generations. The Howell’s are new additions to the area who worked hard to get to know the neighbors. The families melded quickly through their kids, Emmanuel and Kingston, playing together. The Cardozo family has three sons, one grown and two at home. The Howell family has two sons, one grown and one at home. When tragedy struck that evening, the Howells and the Cardozos were able to escape with all of their pets and family members and feel extremely grateful to be healthy and well after the fire.

After the fires, both families intend to rebuild. The proceeds of this go fund me will be split evenly between the families. Both David and Roberto have expertise in construction, which will help keep costs of the rebuild down. The goal amount may not reflect the true cost of rebuilding, but $25,000 for each family would go a long way right now to secure their future. The Howell and Cardozo families are resourceful people who would be good stewards of the money, ensuring that it stretches as far as possible.

David is an occupational therapist who volunteers his time and skill at a local clinic. David was in the process of setting up a therapy studio to be used to provide therapy to all in need, regardless of what they could pay. The studio was nearly complete, but sadly the studio and therapy equipment were completely lost to the fire.

Roberto does daily double shifts working at the water company. As the Howell’s experienced when they moved in, the Cardozo family goes out of their way to make sure everyone has what they need and feel welcome. The Cardozo’s had been building their dream home for years. They were so happy when they finished and sadly only got to spend 2 nights in their dream home.

Simply put, the money will be split between the two families to cover bare essentials until construction can begin and then cover costs of construction. One of the Howell’s only remaining material possessions, their car, just quit working.
They say it takes a village, but unfortunately the village burned down. Please consider sharing if you are unable to donate.
