My dad, Jim—who everyone knows as Howdy—has always been the rock of our family, working hard to provide for my mom and my sister. Last week, everything changed when he started feeling unwell and had to go to the ER. What we thought would be a routine visit quickly turned into a nightmare—he went into cardiac arrest and had to be put on a ventilator for several days. Now, he’s awaiting surgery for a pacemaker, and while we’re grateful he’s still with us, we know the road ahead will be long and challenging.

With Howdy in the hospital and unable to work, our family is facing a lot of uncertainty. He is the sole provider for my mom and sister, and we’re not sure when he’ll be able to return to his job. We’re worried about how we’ll manage basic needs like food and medications while he recovers. It’s a scary time, but we’re holding onto hope and doing everything we can to support each other.
