Howard is a 6-year-old beagle who has brought so much joy into my life since I adopted him from a shelter a year and a half ago. When he was found, he was living on the streets and eating garbage, but even then, his love for food and his gentle spirit shone through. Since joining my family, Howard has been a happy and healthy companion, always ready for a treat or a cuddle.

About two weeks ago, everything changed when Howard hurt his back. Suddenly, my energetic, playful beagle was unable to get up without crying out in pain. He’s been on strict bed rest, taking six different vet-prescribed medications, and receiving laser therapy at the community vet hospital several times a week. Some days he seems to improve, but other days he struggles to move at all without discomfort. It’s heartbreaking to see him like this, especially when he tries so hard to be his usual cheerful self.

To make things even more challenging, I was laid off from my job just as Howard’s medical needs became urgent. Covering the cost of his ongoing treatments, medications, and therapies has become overwhelming. Howard is my best friend, and I want to do everything I can to give him the time and care he needs to heal and enjoy a good quality of life.
