My name is Ellie, and I am a member of Houston’s top High School Figure Skating Club, The Great Houston High School Figure Skating Team. Our team consists of 18 members: Kelly Blalock, Jacqueline Pham, Eleanor Tietjen, Isabella Mondragón Flores, Mike Weng, Ice Venkatesh, Kathy Xi, Ella Chen, Avery Shi, Ana Cristina Davis, Soyoon Kim, Emma Ferrero, Bella Zhu, Brody Weck, Jada Panepucci, Nicholas Pham, Jenna Cope, and Madeline Pham. Since our inception three years ago, our team has medaled at every high school skating competition, including two Sectional Finals. The Finals, a competition between top teams from over 25 different states, offer skaters the opportunity to compete on a high-level stage. We are dedicated to providing a collaborative, supportive environment for skaters of all levels to compete and experience team bonding in a traditionally individual sport.
We are preparing for our third High School Sectional Final in Fort Wayne this March, and we are asking for your support so that all members of our team can travel and compete. Competition registration and travel expenses for skating competitions can often run upwards of $3,000 per person, and these steep prices can be barriers to many athletes. If you are able to, we would greatly appreciate any donations to make this dream a reality.
