Hi all, or hello again for those are are familiar with me and mine exploits. So to keep this one succinct me and mine roommates got royally screwed over by our former landlord due to our move from Toledo Ohio to the Detroit area of Michigan. Basically due to circumstances we didn't have an immediate forwarding address (as a matter of fact we spent half of September Hotel hopping). But as a result even though we expressly talked it out with him due to some legal stuff he has opted to take the entirety of the security deposit. Even though we worked to make sure the apartment itself was borderline spotless by the time we left.
Equally problematic being that without getting that deposit back we had to pay out-of-pocket the closing expenses for our utilities, plus moving stuff, plus the new rent (and the fact that none of us were able to immediately hit the ground running and start getting full-time hours at our new jobs). To that end resources are stretched thin, and while he have access to food banks and the like to get by while drumming up resources it doesn't exactly make for a happy holiday season or a healthy long-term path.
Honestly if we could make back even a portion of what we lost from the safety deposit and reimburse some of the bills we had to pay that'd go a great distance in terms of helping us stay afloat and keep ourselves fed and such until we have time to recover.
As always if people see this even if you can't yourself pay if you have the ability to share this around and get the word out we'd be most thankful.
Regardless of what happens thank you very much, and have a lovely rest of your year.
