Hello, my name is Hoshimi and I am a student at Angelo State University. I was kicked out of my home when I turned 18 and was left to survive alone while still in high school. This usually means that I get the maximum amount of FAFSA funds, as I am an unaccompanied youth but due to recent changes in federal aid, I am not able to receive as much help as I usually get. I was expecting to get a small tuition refund for summer classes but I am now short almost $600. Not to mention my refunds usually help me pay for my rent as well, which is another $858.50. I work for the ASU planetarium but due to construction, there were no shows this spring semester so I was out of a job. I am able to work again in the summer thanks to planetarium renovations but this money won’t arrive in time to pay for my tuition and rent. I’m hoping to raise enough to pay for my tuition as well as my rent just to buy myself some more time to work for the rest over the summer.
