The past few weeks have been tumultuous for everyone, and it's hit the restaurant industry especially hard.
As we fight this pandemic together, we have decided as a small business to stay open to help support our staff and to serve our community. As we are now limited to carry-out and delivery business only, we have had to minimize the number of employees working, both for financial reasons and out of concern for their health.
Our kitchen team became part of our family over three years ago at Tysons Biergarten and moved to Hops N Shine with us when TBG closed due to redevelopment. They are parents and husbands responsible for caring for more than just themselves. If we could just give them the money to feed their families, pay their rent, or take care of their car payments, we absolutely would. As a small business that has been open for about a year that has closed its doors indefinitely (barring takeout & delivery), we just do not have the funds.
Believe us when we say that these are extraordinary people who deserve nothing but the best and this pandemic has affected them the most. We pride ourselves on serving excellence and being a family-based restaurant, and we could not do that without the backbone of our team, the kitchen staff.
We look forward to opening again one day soon and welcoming our family back, because when you work for the Hops N Shine family, you are not just an employee, you are family. We are going to do everything we can to help our team members keep their head above water.
So, if it's within your means, please consider donating. A little goes a long way.
Thanks so much,
Hops N Shine Kitchen
