Help Hope's Family Rebuild After Devastating Fire

Hello, my name is Ashley Dawson and I am trying to raise money for my 2nd family. 3 years ago this family took me, Brandon, and Kaiden in with no questions asked, and never batted an eye when Austin came along. What started as Hope babysitting Kaiden, turned into Hope being one of my best friends, her kids becoming our other kids, and our kids becoming hers.

Yesterday started out relatively normal, but turned into a disaster within minutes. While Hope was standing in my kitchen she got the call no parent ever wants to get. The neighbors called her children, after calling 911, to tell them that their house was on fire. The only home they have ever known, gone.

The fire department was able to save one of the dogs and a cat, but their sweet dog Bella didn't make it. The entire upstairs of the house turned to ash.

As I sit here thanking God for her and the kids not being home, I can't help but think what if she hadn't brought Austin to me? What if the kids hadn't gone to see family? The fire started in the attached shed (we are assuming it was from the woodstove) and climbed the house burning all exit points. Had they been home, they wouldn't be here, and that is a feeling that I can't shake.

Due to financial reasons they do not have home owners insurance, and will most likely never be able to rebuild. That is 5 people displaced, Hope's income decimated, and literally no insurance payout in sight.

I created this GoFundMe with a very high goal, and I truly hope we are able to surpass that goal plus some. Like many of us they don't have money in the bank to start over, and they don't actually know what they need yet because they are all bouncing around trying to find a safe place to land. All donations will be going directly to Hope for her and the kids to use to rebuild their lives, and try to recreate some normalcy.

We want to thank all of the Nelson County FIRE/EMS units that were there, Nelson County Sheriff's Department, and all the neighbors that stopped to offer help.
