Help Hop on Home continue the necessary vet care
Hop on Home bunnies need your help. We are a 501c3 non profit with a mission to shelter and care for abandoned and relinquished rabbits in the capital region and beyond in NYS. We give those adoptable a chance at finding a forever family and for those unadoptable a home for life.
As of this morning we have helped 316 rabbits this year and each day the number rises. Take a moment and think about the cost of vet expenses for your pet at home…..the vaccine, the spay or neuter, the flea and tick treatments, the dental issues, the ear infections, the injury, the stitches, the broken bone, the xrays, the lab work, the cancer testing…… it all adds up. Now multiply that by 316. That’s a lot of expenses. Over $40,000 in expenses this year. We do everything in our power to save lives and spay and neuter to control the rabbit population. Some lives we saved that stick out the most this year are Daphne a rabbit dumped and left in a property where the people were away. They found her alive but malnourished, dehydrated, and flea ridden. You could feel her skeleton. Her chances of survival were slim but with vet care and a foster family to give the needed care she survived and now has a family of her own. There was Russell who arrived and couldn’t walk. He had a large lump on a front leg and was sunburned and weak. Someone dumped him and a Good Samaritan contacted us for help. Russell was thought to have cancer but after testing we learned it was not. He now is a permanent sanctuary bunny full of life. Then there was Grace. She was found on the streets. Her ear torn off and missing a leg we needed immediate medical care. She survived, was a strong bun and was pregnant to boot. She is now adopted by her foster family and has the life she deserves. We deal with situations and medical needs you never want to see or think about. In this last few months of the year our budget has dwindled and we need help to keep the high level of care going for the remainder of the year and the start of the new year for the rabbits like Daphne, Russell and Grace. Please help the rabbits that we’re caring for to give them every opportunity to thrive just like Daphne, Russell and Grace.
