Help Honour Dr. Altheia Jones-Lecointe
Donation protected
We’re raising funds to install a Blue Plaque to commemorate Dr Altheia Jones-Lecointe, a pioneering leader in British history, and a tireless advocate for racial justice, community empowerment, and women’s rights.
The installation of the Blue Plaque is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of Dr Jones-Lecointe’s contribution to British society. It will ensure that her role in shaping the modern fight for racial equality is honoured permanently, and publicly.
As well as being a scientist and medical doctor by profession, and a wife and mother of two, Dr Jones-Lecointe emerged as a formidable voice against racial discrimination, police brutality, and systemic injustice in the 1960s and 70s. Her leadership and contributions to the Black Panther Party UK saw her break barriers and continues to underpin the foundation of current, and a future generation of activists.
We, the family and friends of Dr Jones-Lecointe, are currently raising funds to cover the commissioning, production, and installation of the plaque. Our fundraising target is £8,000 and we are aiming to reach this target by 1st July 2025.
Your contribution would play a significant role in ensuring that Dr Jones-Lecointe’s legacy is sufficiently recognised, and contributes to the wider effort of preserving and celebrating Black British history.
Why this matters:
*Celebrate a true icon of British history
*Educate future generations
*Honour the struggle for racial justice
*Create a lasting legacy in our communities
How You Can Help:
