Tracy L. Welch, of Lancaster, passed from this life at 2:09 a.m. Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at OSU Wexner Medical Center of Columbus, following an extended hospital visit and chronic health conditions, surrounded by all of his children at the time of his passing. He was 63 years old.

Tracy was born on January 3, 1962, in Columbus at Grant Medical Center, the son of Charles Welch and Martha “Marty” Darling. He is survived by his children: Charles Welch of Chillicothe; Jennifer Rutter of Chillicothe; Casey Welch of Lancaster; Mercedes Welch of Columbus; Kiersten Welch; and Jared Welch, both of Lancaster. His sisters: Sharrie Pierce: Carla Mae James; Wanda Francis Marie Coonrod; all of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Welch, his mother, Martha “Marty” Darling, and his brothers, Richard “Rick” James and Mark James.

He made his living in many professions; however, towards the end of his working years before his retirement, he was most notably an accomplished realtor with several awards and lots of recognition within the real estate profession. Tracy was also a seasoned independent contractor, with lots of experience in all types of home repair and remodeling. He loved tinkering and found comfort in doing his own repairs and modifications, as opposed to letting others do so, if he was physically able. Tracy deeply enjoyed cooking and worked as a cook for many years before breaching the world of real estate. Each of his meals were made with love and care, and he took a great deal of pride in the things he made.

Tracy was an incredibly loving father to all of his children, making it a point to involve each and every one of them in what he did and loved to do. In truth, that love was being with his kids. Whether it was holding the flashlight as he did repairs or sitting in the passenger’s side as he drove many miles a day, everyone was involved in some way, which included spouses and partners. Tracy made it a point to include everyone in his family, treating friends and partners like his own sons and daughters. He was always so proud of everyone, displaying photos and certificates of all of his kin around his house and telling all who would listen.

Tracy Welch was more than happy to be involved, and always considered his impact on other people. His memory leaves a lasting impact on all, even as he passes on.

In any extension of him, he would want his presence to be a source of comfort, strength, and quiet encouragement, just as it always was in his life.
