Help Honor Thomas Pierce: A Life of Music and Love Lost to ALS & MG

It is with unimaginable grief and a profound sense of loss that I share the passing of my beloved brother, Thomas Breon Pierce, who left us early this morning, October 30, 2025, at 12:40 AM. Thomas fought an impossibly rare and cruel battle against both ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and Myasthenia Gravis (MG).

A Man of Rare Gifts and a Generous Spirit
Thomas was truly unique from the beginning to the end. His passion was comforting others, both through service and through music.

At a young age, he found comfort in ensuring people were respectfully transitioned to their next stage of life. He spent time at the mortuary, learning how to comfort families and provide the best final look for their loved ones. He was never afraid to care for the deceased.

His gifts with music were legendary. Though never formally educated, he was a rare individual who could play any song by ear after hearing it once. He provided comfort through his beautiful singing and playing the organ at homecomings and churches across the nation. His art moved hearts, and people speak fondly of the times they were treated to his performances.

The Double Battle
The rarity of his illness underscored the scale of his struggle. His neurologist advised that both ALS and MG are rare on their own, making the presence of both in a single individual highly unusual. The cruel, rapid combination of these two diseases meant Thomas’s final months were an extraordinary, expensive battle.

Despite his suffering, he lived his life to the fullest. In his final week, he told us, "I am a man and I want to make my decisions while I am still in my right mind." On his last day, when he could no longer speak, he still worshipped the Lord through music, communicating his love and saying his goodbyes. In his final moments, he looked at the foot of the bed, whispered "Momma," and pointed, letting us know his grandmother had returned to take him home.

Honoring Thomas’s Final Wishes
We are requesting assistance to honor and celebrate my brother’s life. The fight against these two relentless diseases has left our family with an unexpected and immediate financial burden. We respect his wishes and want to honor him with a peaceful, respectful burial and a celebration of the life and music he shared with so many.

We are humbly asking for $25,000 to help cover:

The high cost of funeral and burial arrangements

Casket and grave marker arrangements

Venue and service costs for the Celebration of Life

Critical travel and lodging for immediate family members to attend

Any donation, large or small, will help ease this financial burden and allow us to give Thomas the farewell he truly deserves. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign means the world to us.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

We will celebrate Thomas’s life on Thursday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM. More details on the venue will be posted in the upcoming days.
