On September 11, 2025, the world lost a beloved father, master drummer, teacher, and cultural ambassador — Sogbety Diomande.

Born in Côte d’Ivoire, Sogbety dedicated his life to sharing the rhythms of West Africa with the world. He touched countless lives through his performances, workshops, and teaching, bringing joy, connection, and cultural understanding to communities across the globe.

Sogbety is survived by his son Abou, his young daughter Olivia, his partner Katherine, and his family in Côte d’Ivoire and all over the world! His legacy lives on in the hearts of his students, colleagues, friends, and audiences everywhere.

We are reaching out to the community Sogbety loved and served for support during this difficult time. Funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly toward the expenses I am personally responsible for, including:

• The funeral reception and related costs in Mansfield, Ohio

• Support for his children as they navigate life without their father

There has been some confusion within the family about arrangements. If his son Abou wishes to create a separate GoFundMe for the funeral service he is planning, that is his choice.
