It is with deep sadness and love that we share the unexpected passing of Susanne Michelle Mason—known affectionately as Susie—on July 6, 2025, at the young age of 47. Her loss has left a hole in our hearts that words can’t fully express.

Susie was a vibrant, quirky, and fiercely strong woman who brought color into the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a proud mother to her son Kyle and a loving grandma to her 4 month old granddaughter, Ruby Jo—she loved to chit chat with Ruby Jo on FaceTime. She loved cats, singing, doing makeup, and chasing dreams of travel. She often made others laugh with her offbeat sense of humor and never hesitated to be fully, unapologetically herself.

In her early years, Susie was a gifted competitive ice skater, competing in nationals in Arizona and Chicago as a member of the Sun Valley Seven. That same spirit of dedication carried into her adult life as she bravely fought through many personal challenges—including battles with mental health and addiction. Susie never gave up. She worked hard to find happiness, stability, and peace, and her strength continues to inspire all of us.

She was deeply loved—especially by her mother, Murena Jo (her hero), and by her son, and granddaughter. In her final days, she was surrounded by family and knew she was loved.

Because her passing was so sudden and unexpected our family was unprepared to cover the costs associated with a proper funeral, casket, and burial plot, in addition to her family members travel to California to say goodbye and honor her memory.

I’m Susie’s daughter-in-law and I created this GoFundMe on behalf of our family, who are too humble to ask for help themselves, but who truly deserve it. If you feel moved to contribute, any amount will help give Susie the farewell she deserves.
