In loving memory of Rita Zayas

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Zayas. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Zayas, and she was deeply loved by her family. She has touched many lives in her 89 years on this earth with her giving heart and compassion. She was soft and kind, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Alzheimer’s took her from her family long ago but Her daughter, Tanya Zayas Formisano, devoted much of her adult life caring for and nurturing her mother, keeping her close in her home as she felt that was the best place for her. Eventually the job became very overwhelming and she was placed in a nursing home where she received 24/7 care until her last days of her life.

I am creating this go fund me on behalf of the Zayas family, in their time of need. Rita’s life insurance policy was not enough to provide her a funeral and service that she deserves. All of the money went to her care at the nursing home and additional expenses were incurred to transfer her from Pennsylvania back to Long Island, NY, to be with her husband.

I’d like to take some of the financial burden off of the family in their time of sorrow.
