Help Honor Papa's Memory

As you may know, Dad had been dealing with leukemia and prostate cancer for some time. They thought they had it under control, but recently it reared its ugly head again with a vengeance. Papa had been in and out of the hospital for blood loss and the complications that go along with it. Last week, we got the news no one wanted to hear. Papa got sent home with the news that there was nothing more that they could do for him. No more transfusions would be given.
In true Papa fashion, he got released from the hospital and instead of sitting around waiting to die, he did what he loved to do. He went to karaoke. As you all know, it was his favorite pastime and he created a second family with all of his friends. He wanted to live his life on his own terms, and we all know that he would have gone out more if his body would have allowed it.
As it turned out, that was his last karaoke session. His body started failing him quite rapidly after that.
He wasn’t in pain, so he didn’t realize how little time he had left; he just knew it wasn’t long. But also, since he wasn’t in pain and he was able to move around, he thought he had more time to get his final affairs in order. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. He was fine until he wasn’t. He was setting up plans to go out later in the week Tuesday morning. Tuesday evening, he started declining. By Wednesday, he wasn’t able to get around anymore. Sadly, Thursday morning, he left us. So those final things didn’t get handled in time.
I am setting up this GoFundMe in hopes of getting help with the final payments, funeral expenses, and other expenses that are going to occur. I’m hoping to raise $10,000 or as close to that as possible, as there will be storage fees to cover and due to the fact that I was living with Papa, I’m running the risk of becoming homeless as I’m not able to cover the full amount of rent on my own yet.
Please consider donating to help offset these expenses. Also, please contact me if you are interested in purchasing a fishing pole or two that Papa had collected prior to things going into an auction. Anything is appreciated.
Thank you for everything you did for my father. He truly loved his family and friends.
We are planning his funeral for the end of June. I will let everyone know when his funeral date has been set.
